Brokenhead Wetlands Interpretive Trail Update – September 2014

With the near completion of the boardwalk and trail, and with the publicity we have received through the Eco Journal and the Winnipeg Free Press this summer, Debwendon is very happy to see many visitors already using the trail. However. as the trail is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION, visitors are advised that they use it at their own risk. We would kindly ask hikers, walkers and wheelchairs to stay on the designated trail and boardwalk only. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the trail. The damage or removal of any plants or other material is prohibited.

Remaining items to be completed are the trailhead structure, the wheelchair accessible washrooms, the highway sign, and the interpretive signage. We look forward to the official opening in summer 2015. Look for an update on this website next May.

Some tips for having an enjoyable time on the trail:

Pack out what you carried in.

Be Bear Smart. Do not go alone.

Dogs not allowed on trail.

Bring water and mosquito repellant and wear a hat if it is hot.

Please practice Leave No Trace – take only pictures, leave only footprints.
